Super Smash Bros. Melee - Captain Bowser Jay Koopa VS 15 Minute Melee (redo)
Welcome to the 15 Minute Melee project. Here, I will make videos of doing 15 Minute Melee with various characters under certain conditions. Yep, an accomplishment that you certainly couldn't expect from people like the Hyphy Movement, the Uni-Mind including trolls, the San Francisco Bay Area residents who prove that it doesn't deserve to be called the "Yay Area", the shallow girls who would say "wanna suck my pee" just to mock me, and the Oakland rioters. The purpose of this project is to help players learn skills that could help in dealing with Meta Knight in Brawl, who abuses the Glass Cannon metagames that have dubious at best standards.
Now the conditions are no Screw Attack abuse, B button usage is limited purely to recovery, no (intentional) airdodging or glitch abuse, and getting as many KOs as feasible.
Anybody who wishes to contribute may vote for which 3 characters they'd want me to do next. Please keep in mind that I will not prioritize purely on vote count whatsoever, but don't be afraid to vote for your favorite character(s). Also, any characters I have recorded for (and will not redo, because I'll redo everybody else I already have besides Mewtwo) will not be counted, but you may revote for other characters. Lastly, if you vote for Zelda, it will be considered a vote for Shiek, whose KO potential I consider lower.
Captain Bowser Jay Koopa's stats:
*Classification: Mighty Glacier + Stone Wall
*Specialty: variety effectiveness
*Smash bonus: protection
*Notes: most moves KO, some slower than others but plenty fast enough
As it turns out, Forward Tilt and Back Air KO slowly, though they are still good moves, as Bowser doesn't have too many KOing problems. His real problem is surviving to begin with. You definitely want to use aerials to manage preemptive attacks and minimize the chances of being clean hit. After all, if the Wireframes can't clean hit you, they can't kill you. Although the fact that they can still knock your percentage up so easily is still annoying. I get that the game would have wanted to avoid Character Select Forcing (kind of late with that thanks to Donkey Kong) but making Bowser basically a punching bag in general is stupid.
B Moves: Whirling Fortress (Up B) and Bowser Bomb (Down B) are the KO moves, though the latter can stupidly be outprioritized, contrary to the fact that it's beaten in its origin game by DODGING it. Koopa Klaw (Side B) can, depending on your distance from the nearest Wireframe, either KO quickly (outside reach) or be used for a back throw but not any other throws (inside reach). Fire Breath (Neutral B) can't KO but it can disarm explosives.
