#SuperOldGameSaturday - Fatal Frame (PlayStation 2) - Finale
Originally Recorded/Aired On October 29th, 2021
Around Halloween last year on #SuperOldGameSaturday, on the request of Proterova we started playing Tecmo's Fatal Frame, a 2001/2002 survival horror game for PlayStation 2 and Xbox where you use a camera to defeat ghosts. Yet, since then, this game's gone unfinished, so for 2021's Halloween show (albeit 2 days ahead of time on another Friday night entry for the show), we finished this underrated game with four big changes from the last time we played. First, we had a bigger audience in the chat for this one (including the glorious return of Proterova, who requested this in the first place, and a couple of new faces), second, it sounds far better via the enhanced sound equipment this show uses, third, it looks better/doesn't cut feed via the upscaler we run with now and finally, I knew where I was going this time, thanks to some much-needed practice before we completed this. Like when we played it last time, though (which is also here on the YouTube site), I and the chat got drawn into the atmosphere and story of this Japanese legend-infused survival horror tale of Miku Hinasaki seeking her missing brother, Mafuyu, at the haunted Himuro Mansion, as well as had great discussions about this genre, this franchise, other series that we're going to need to represent/return to here and other assorted topics perfect for the #SuperOldGameSaturday program. Also, for good measure, we took a look at the Battle Mode that unlocks when you beat the game. I had a great time going through this one with the chat and how you enjoy the long overdue finale of this one (and if you like what you see here, stop by https://www.twitch.tv/captainditrag each Saturday at 7 PM EST to see these streams live and join the conversations on what we play each week)!
