#SuperOldGameSaturday - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Nintendo 64) - Part 1
Originally Recorded/Aired On January 8th, 2022
Happy New Year from the #SuperOldGameSaturday program! After a great year of shows in 2021, we're kicking off 2022 right with the new initiative I have going for this little video game stream I put on every Saturday night at 7 PM EST, which will be the full playthroughs of both of The Legend of Zelda games from the Nintendo 64, with a guest joining me for each game. We're starting with 1998's The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, for which I'm joined by Proterova, who will be here for each monthly part for this game until we finish it, and this one holds a special place in both of our hearts as the first Zelda game that got its hooks in us (and the first one I ever played). We are going 100% on this one (so, every Heart Piece and Gold Skulltula) and, for the first part, we met our hero, Link, as well as his new fairy companion, Navi, as we began our quest across the fantasy land of Hyrule helping out a talking tree, local farm hands, a tribe of mountainous creatures, a family transformed into spiders, the princess of the land, Zelda, and many more, while also having fun with masks, doing some grave-digging, getting some bottles, handling the fishing and bowling mini-games in record time and seeing some unique glitches within the 1.0 gold cartridge version we're using to play this. We and the chat had a good time starting our exploration and discussion of this groundbreaking game, along with bringing up a bunch of unique insights/asides and some links to other aspects of interest that we mentioned, like Good Blood's Ocarina of Time: A Master Class of Subtext (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyUcwsjyd8Q), a deleted scene from Conker's Bad Fur Day (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvjAcjLAQXk) and mentions of diverse topics like The Simpsons, movies like The Talented Mr. Ripley and Almost Famous and even Wilhelm's Scream by Edvard Munch. Oh, and we also dealt with how Link's manhood is constantly called into question and how we're deflecting that because #LinkRealMan. Hope you enjoy our first show of 2022 and the first part of this one (and if you like what you see here, stop by https://www.twitch.tv/captainditrag each Saturday at 7 PM EST to see these streams live and join/help drive the conversations on what we play each week)!
