#SuperOldGameSaturday - Star Fox (Super Nintendo)
Originally Recorded/Aired On February 19th, 2022
Continuing with my promise to cover at least one viewer request a month on the #SuperOldGameSaturday program, we returned once again to the Lylat System on the request of ElecVerse to play Star Fox, the 1993 flight game co-developed by Nintendo and Argonaut Software for the Super Nintendo that was an early 16-bit showcase of polygonal graphics, as powered by the Super FX chip built into the cartridge. We used the Nintendo Switch Online to play this first adventure of Fox McCloud, Peppy Hare, Slippy Toad and Falco Lombardi, which gave me a bit of a cushion as we played through all 3 paths and explored our memories with this one, as well as discussed its level of difficulty, the legacy of this series, the impact this entry had and the idea of how mind-blowing it was and, surprisingly in some ways, still is. On the topic of its challenge, I wanted to practice this one before we played as you'll see, but you WILL see all of the game, including all 3 of its paths, its training mode and some hidden secrets, which brought to mind aspects as varied as Max Headroom, Futurama, classical/Christian music, the recently announced Wii U and 3DS eShop closure happening next year and even a bit of gambling. Yeah, we definitely cover the harbor on this program regarding what we talk about and especially the games you want to see, so again, thank you for your request, ElecVerse, and to all of you, feel free to make any requests that you want for the show because, in the words of the Console Wars show, "we WILL get to them". Hope you enjoy our play of Star Fox for the Super Nintendo (and if you like what you see here, stop by https://www.twitch.tv/captainditrag each Saturday at 7 PM EST to see these streams live and join the conversations on what we play each week)!
