Last Sunday, the main EU server that I use was down, so I decided to try out the recently relaunched France which has a moderate 125 to 130 ping for me and record through two parts the mod Intolerable Threat with Slywin joining. I have covered this mod before in my Half-Life Mods series and its Sven Co-Op cousin is almost the same mold but different in a few ways, Should note there was more lag than usual since the France server ping is somewhat higher than the EU's 70 ping so bear with me on any pauses or fidgeting

To preface, Intolerable Threat has fewer checkpoints respawns vs the base game and it's expansion packs, It's 3 maps before we get to the level transition, and I've seen quite a few players give up on the 3rd part of the first level. Our story involves Gordon Freeman, having fled the Gman from the bad ending of Half-Life appearing in a facility and medical care, The Sven Co-Op version cuts the story intro text but we're to infiltrate Hangar 16 which has been taken over by the Gman and his army of mercenaries, and then terminate, this "Intolerable Threat".

It's important to note that the difficulty level will play a HUGE role in how you enjoy this mod, on medium skill since there was only two of us, Things are more tolerable but going to Hard or Very Hard will make every room possible death for all players so caution is advised. Very important is that Snipers in Sven Co-Op in general are DANGEROUS, And Intolerable Threat has the most Black Ops Snipers in a single mod I've seen along with a few of the rare H.E.C.U. Snipers, The sniper shots ignore armor and it only takes 3 headshots for us to die, 1 alone will kill on Very Hard difficulty.

The name of the next few maps after breaking into the Hangar is caution, and anything can happen, We're facing a helicopter, getting some Opfor weapons such as the M249 SAW, Downright devious traps that I could see coming from a mile away and the introduction to the Barnabus enemies used sparingly in Intolerable Threat, It's Barney's "evil" clone and they go down easily but you also have to kill any scientist that is nearby as they will revive Barnabus.

Like Opposing Force we have Grunt allies and they are a big help but can die rather easy due to their A.I. not taking cover like they should, The HWY Guy or HECU Sargent who goes back to the Half-Life Alpha/Beta is a VERY dangerous enemy in Sven Co-Op who will tear you apart if you are not using caution Thankfully his minigun is worth grabbing, He's lumped with a tank, various HECU/Black Op troops, A Black Ops Helicopter and other horrors before our next level transition.

The next level has thick laser tripmine traps, and our introduction to what makes Intolerable Threat really difficult this early on which is environmental traps (The Tesla Coils), Perfectly (awful) placed Black Op ambush locations, and 3 storage rooms where I must've died many many times in the past with other players.

There are not many really notable parts that come afterwards except a homage to a old scrapped "betrayal" scene which the Half-Life Alpha had in the works, More labs with high tier Race-X monsters, Jump puzzles and the works. Part 2 which will be Episode #8 will conclude the Intolerable Threat run and showcase the best parts of this mod as this is a long mod taking into consideration how it's normally 15 maps in normal mod but IT is only 11 maps in total here in Sven Co-Op.
