Sven Co-Op Sunday SuperCuts #9
This was originally not going to be a SuperCut but rather a spinoff which would've been a series named "SuperCuts #TheOutTakes" with pretty bad runs or idiots making things nearly impossible to play, and sometimes.. I either combine videos or snip them to reduce their length to only show the good parts because let's face it, there's enough useless players out there in the world and bad timing to ruin anyone's game session.
Let's get the elephant out of the room, Half-Life Decay is a strange title, it was exclusive to the PS2 port of Half-Life which was released in 2001 and was based around two player gameplay with the characters Gina Cross and Colette Green being part of a team to activate a resonance cascade reversal with Dr. Rosenberg and Dr. Richard Keller, Decay was priced at 60 dollars with the PS2 port which, yeah, that port is alright but Decay even today is pathetic in my eyes in terms of being a expansion pack, and this Sven Co-Op port does little to change my mind.
My biggest problem is that the audio clips used by Rosenberg and Keller are mostly broken except for the final 3 maps which makes the storyline very incomprehensive unless you've already played it on Ps2 or watched a walkthrough, and yes, I know that many give Blue-Shift a hard time for only being at most 1 hour of gameplay for a expansion pack that was at the time 60 dollars, Decay is shorter still with only 8 maps with "Domestic Violence" and the secret Xen Vortigaunt maps being cut due to bugs.
Like the original expansion pack, players need to work in tandem to get through the puzzles, Some parts are harder than I remember such as the final demi lock in the lab where part of the players stay in the lab room, two others hold the outside catwalk while Xen Masters spawn in, while the final map which is F.U.B.A.R. is classic siege material with the resonance cascade reversal machine and defending against aliens, beating a giant borg boss, I generally don't think Decay needed a sven co-op port for those who have the ps2 release but I guess there are fans out there.
