Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow Walkthrough Part 1: Cargo Hold 5 (INTRO)
Welcome back to my channel, dear gamers. As promised, today we'll be kickstarting the final game of Syphon Filter series, not only on the channel, but also in the series itself, Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow so sit back, relax and enjoy the gameplay.
Please note that just like with my previous walkthrough of Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, walkthrough of this game will be split into several larger parts covering the individual "episodes" of the game since individual levels making up said episodes are extremely short. With that out of the way, enjoy the game.
About Game: Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow is 2007 Third-Person Shooter video game developed by Bend Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, initially as PlayStation Portable exclusive before ultimately being ported onto PlayStation 2 in 2010. It is sixth and final mainline game of Syphon Filter series, serving as direct sequel to 2006's Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror. Upon release, Logan's Shadow was met with generally positive reviews from both critics and players alike, although this wasn't enough to ensure the continuation of the series as this game marked the effective end of Syphon Filter since the series' head writter John Gavin confirmed that he is "burned out" in regards to it. Due to this lack of interest by its creators and Syphon Filter generally being overlooked by modern gaming audiences, meaning that there isn't an pronounced public interest in bringing Syphon Filter back, the series is effectively dead since 2007 with no plans for new games, remakes or series reboot being announced as of July 2024.
Story of the game is set approximately a year after the events of Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror and follows Gabriel Logan as he is dispatched to intervene in an terrorist raid on the US Navy ship that was attacked off the coast of Somalia, in order to protect the ship's mysterious cargo. However, attempted retrieval goes horribly wrong, causing US government to shut IPCA down after Lian Xing is framed as a Chinese double agent, drawing Gabe and his allies into another dangerous conspiracy.
After USS Mt. St. Helens, US Navy's resupply ship passing through the Indian Ocean off the coast of Somalia is hijacked by local pirates, IPCA is contacted by Cordell, representative of US Government's Intelligence Oversight Committee, and tasked with securing the ship and its cargo before the hijackers retrieve it. However, despite both Gabe and Teresa Lipan being apperhensive about accepting the assignment due to considering the hijacking to be out of IPCA's jurisdiction and due to their target cargo being so secretive that not even US Navy's Fifth Fleet is supposed to know about it, Gabe agrees after discovering that the hijackers are led by a Syrian terrorist named Ghassan al-Bitar whom IPCA failed to eliminate a year prior, despite Teresa still remaining unconvinced.
Soon afterwards, Gabe is flown towards the ship by IPCA pilot Alima Haddad, but two are immediately attacked by the hijacked rocket launchers, forcing Gabe to fight his way onboard. To make matters worse, Gabe quickly discovers several members of US' Special Forces onboard, one of whom tells him that they infiltrated the ship on incomplete intel before passing away, implying that Cordell is witholding information from IPCA. With Cordell refusing to allow Gabe access to Fifth Fleet's communication network in order to notify them about the massacre aboard Mt. St. Helens, Gabe prepares to manually jack into the ship's communication relay, only for Alima's helicopter to end up shot down, killing her. Intent on avenging Alima's death, Gabe swims out to the boats used by al-Bitar's hijackers and destroys them before entering Mt. St. Helens' cargo hold in order to locate the cargo sought by Cordell, discovering that Cordell witheld the full extent of the hijackers' professionalism from IPCA as he finds that they immediately detonated the ship's hull, allowing them quick access into the cargo hold. Upon fighting his way through the cargo holds, Gabe discovers that the cargo sought by Cordell has already been taken away, causing a brief arguement between the two as Cordell blames Gabe for the mission's failure while Gabe blames Cordell's poor intel briefing for his pilot's death. Advancing towards the ship's main bridge in order to intercept al-Bitar before he escapes, Gabe is caught in the middle of Fifth Fleet starting to bombard Mt. St. Helens, with the situation becoming even worse as the hijackers' enforcer named Fahid attacks him, forcing Gabe to engage him in an shootout. Despite winning and killing Fahid, Gabe fails to prevent al-Bitar's escape, leaving him with just enough time to escape the bombed out ship before the main bridge collapses...
