I've modified the Land of Canaan encounter to be able to retry the fight instead of going to the title screen and through several cutscenes and choices™ everytime. The battle event has been included so Chronos has access to Time Compression upon hitting 50% HP, as intended.
As a result of this change however, Chronos' level scales a bit, from Lv63 to Lv73, and his stats are slightly higher than when you fight him in Marksburg during Chapter 13. He has ~54000 more HP and the rest of his stats get a 700-900 point increase. The level and stats of Gaius and everyone else have been copied to what I had in my savefile for this fight.
Ignoring the scripted fight bit, this Chronos is incredibly easy. Still no weaknesses so Power Charge 2 is mandatory but he's very likely to start the battle using Cage of Torment, giving you ample time to charge and break his Iron Stance while he just stands still.
Once Chronos reaches 50% HP, he will gain super armor to prevent you from continuing the combo and will begin Time Compression. This Artes makes him completely invulnerable and will rewind the state of the battle unless he's interrupted. Chronos doesn't trigger Time Compression instantly though, if you manage to knock him down just before the 50% HP mark, like I do here with Dragon's Maw, you can sneak a few extra hits before he recovers.
The only way to cancel Time Compressions is by using Ludger's Chromatus and, lucky me, this transformation is programmed as an Arte, so the other characters can have access to it once you set it to one of their Arte slots. It doesn't trigger the Chromatus itself but you just need to start it to cancel Time Compression.
It's important to note that the Chromatus transformation can have some unintended effects if it isn't performed "correctly". Your character must come to a complete standstill, preferably by taunting, before activating it, otherwise there's a risk the Chromatus glitches and messes up the graphics or even softlocks the game.
I've found that standing right next to Chronos after a Time Compression can bait either Chronos Collider or Beam, the former being the most likely outcome. And that's a free Flash Guard + Retribution!
