Splinter npc (will float across the screen (7:16)) drops a redish color orb. If you obtain the orb, you have access to a projectile (fireball; 236+P).

Probably need to spend more time with the game but eyeballing it, throws and fireball seem to do the most damage.

Additional notes;
Easy difficulty will not trigger the ending sequence; will say, try a harder difficulty...
