Terranigma first full playthrough, part 5
0Our last stop before sailing across the ocean takes us through a castle in Spain full of acid, various puzzles for progression, and...surprisingly, an arbitrary spike in leveling expectations?
We also get to experience a small dose of democracy before crossing the ocean, which suddenly reveals an entire mechanic of this game, with towns that can evolve. Cool to see influence from Actraiser and perhaps Soul Blazer make a return at a more zoomed-in scale.
I'm not a huge fan of just how much impact a few choices randomly sprinkled throughout the game can have on your ability to experience the full game later on. Games with dozens of hours of playtime that make it possible to permanently miss significant chunks of content in a playthrough don't particularly sit well with me. They very much put the notion of an unbiased first playthrough at odds with resorting to a guide due to FOMO. I guess that's supposed to add to replayability, but when I've got a gazillion other games to play, I just don't have the time for that. (I suppose this is related to why I don't play a ton of RPGs outside of ARPGs.)
