Tetris Plus - Sega Saturn - Intro & gameplay from endless, puzzle and edit modes [HD 2K]
Enhanced port of Jaleco's Tetris Plus arcade game with a number of added stages and modes. Along with both an arranged soundtrack and the original arcade one. Jaleco's output could be very hit and miss at times, but Tetris Plus and its sequel are two of the better games they made.
While the standard endless mode is your straight forward and classic Tetris game of get as many lines as you game. The puzzle mode is a full on adventure games that requires you navigate the professor, through each stage by having him touch the bottom. Stages start out easy enough, but quick ramp up, there's also the small matter of the spiked ceiling slowly lowering the longer you take. With the Professor going by, bye should the ceiling catch up with him. The original arcade only had an 8 and 15 stage puzzle mode, for this home version that has being totally changes with a world tour of various city and a number of added stages. The original arcade stages are present, but the order of them have been totally changes around due to all the additional stages included in the home version.
Vs Battle sees two players competing against one another to see who can keep the professor alive the longest. Disappointingly it lacks the option to use CPU opponents, so one mode for when you have friends over. The crowning jewel however is the edit mode, which also you to build and save your own stages to your hearts content. It's easy to use interface means anyone, can start making stages to enjoy. The only slight downside is for a 2D titles the Saturn version only runs at around 20-30fps for the core game elements, giving the game a very ridged feel at times. As a complete package Tetris Plus is the best of the Tetris games on Sega Saturn and also one of the best arcade puzzle titles on the system.
