Mystaria The Realms of Lore - Sega Saturn - Intro and gameplay and story sample [2K60]
A sample of edited gameplay and story to the start of Mystaria The Realms of Lore / Blazing Heroes / Riglordsaga a turn based tactical RPG. An early Sega Saturn title from Sega and Micro Cabin, that used some pretty awful pre-rendered character models and 3D polygons textures for the environment maps. Even in 1995 they didn't look great, however graphics aside this is a sublime tactical RPG that needs more respect.
This is two hours of footage condensed into around 11 minutes, battles in full take around 30 minutes a piece to finished. Hence why we don't tend to cover RPGS as you need quite a lot of footage for even a good sample. Very much in the Shining Force and Fire Emblem moulds, with elements from both, however the combat is quite a bit deeper than both other series as characters learn a large selection of different moves. Some grant element attacks, some allow you to attack more than one enemy at once, one spell raises fallen comrades, others allow you to heal allies or shrink enemies. Some techniques just use MP others limit the units movement if you use to use them. Choosing the right technique can be the difference between victory and defeat.
Renamed in North America to Blazing Heroes for a later print run after TSR makers of Dungeons & Dragons felt it was too similar to the realm of Mystara. However, this altered version is the harder to find version by all accounts as less units of Blazing Heroes were printed. Riglordsaga 2 was released in Japan only in 1996 and was never released in the west. Asides from the title graphics and some lighting and colour affects at 60fps most of the games runs at 30fps or less in many cases. The full video will follow in a few days.
