We spent the day in Pine Valley, CA hiking around the Noble Mine site exploring the various tunnels located on the various claims. I hadn't been back to this mining area in three or four years, but little has changed. Despite some of the 145-year old tunnels having bat gates installed in them, we were able to enter and explore (and document) some of San Diego County's fast-fading gold mining history. In this video, you will see dangerous collapses, a flooded vertical shaft, frogs in a mine tunnel, and our ingenious method of using a long extension pole and an attached mirror to see around corners in mine tunnels that we couldn't access.
