Lego City Undercover started its life as a title that could only be played on Wii U: that’s practically a death sentence.

The game was well received, but It had horrible loading times, and, for some reason, it didn’t have a multiplayer mode.

Thankfully, the game was given a second life when it was ported to PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Switch. The loading times were improved and split-screen co-op was added.

This game has the humor, collecting, and puzzles you’d expect from a Lego game, with the open-world sandbox, vehicular gameplay, and general mission structure of a Grand Theft Auto game.

Yes, that includes hijacking cars. But, you play as a cop - so it's okay - it’s for the safety of the city.

I honestly think almost anyone, of any age, could enjoy Lego City Undercover. But the fact that this is an open-world game with split-screen co-op is what makes it a truly rare gaming experience that’s worth trying.

Even 10 years later, local co-op in an open world game is almost unheard of - so, this game definitely still feels fresh in a lot of ways, just because it offers something that a lot of other games just don’t.

And, because it’s older, you can often find it for just a few dollars. So, find someone to play with, if you can, and give this weird Lego, Grand Theft Auto style game a try.
