Spider-Man 2 is a superhero game, so you’d be right to expect that a bulk of the gameplay is combat. And there is a lot of quite satisfying, engaging fighting in this game.

They’ve added a new parry mechanic that works well, but it felt a little overused to me - especially in the boss fights.

But there are a lot of other things to do that aren’t combat.

You occasionally have to do some puzzles, and I actually liked them. They don’t take that long, and they make for a nice occasional change of pace.

This is an open world game, so, of course, there’s a good amount of collectables that you can go and find, if you want.

There’s also crimes that pop up, and lots of little side quests that you can tackle if you choose.

A thing that I love about this game is that all the generic open world stuff, that some people just hate, it’s pretty much all completely optional.

Another thing I love about the gameplay in Spider-Man 2 is the swinging and movement mechanics. Just like the previous games, swinging is amazingly satisfying. They added a wingsuit too, and although it’s faster, it just isn’t as fun as swinging.
