About Spider-Man 2’s Graphics/Performance
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a great example of something that PlayStation games have become known for, and that’s sheer and utter spectacle.
The game has one of my favorite openings I’ve experienced in a game. It sets your expectations high, but then the game never slows down, delivering action-piece after action-piece, each one as impressive as the last.
Visually, the game really shines. The lighting, textures, and 3D models are all extremely impressive.
And performance-wise, things aren’t too bad. I never noticed any distracting slow-down of the frame rate, but, admittedly, I’m not very sensitive to those things, and I did play the game using the setting that prioritized framerate over graphical fidelity.
I did experience a few bugs though, but nothing too noteworthy or game breaking. I was kind of hoping that I would get the bug that turns Spider-Man into a box, but it never happened for me.
It’s unfortunate, but nowadays, it’s almost expected that big open-world games will be at least a little buggy at launch. And, Spider-Man 2 doesn’t do much to dispel that idea. But, at the same time, it’s really not that bad either.
