Spider-Man 2 is full of action packed gameplay; but what about the story? Is it any good?

Let’s get into it without any spoilers.

This is a superhero game, so, yeah, things are going to be quite wild and outlandish - that just comes with the territory. But the first two Spider-Man games from Insomniac surprised me with how much emotion and heart the story contained.

This time around… for better or worse, they’ve gone for a less emotional story. There’s definitely still some of that there, but Spider-Man 2’s plot finds itself much more in the realm of what you’d expect from a traditional, over-the-top comic book adventure.

Depending on what you personally enjoy, this might be a welcomed change.

Peter and Miles both have their own individual stories in this game, and those are definitely a bit more heartfelt. But the main plot, which involves everyone, is as crazy and “comic-booky” as it can be.

Honestly, I don’t think any of the storylines are particularly groundbreaking, but they’re amazingly entertaining, and, most importantly, feel right at home as Spider-Man stories that don’t feel forced or off-brand.
