The Oblivion Gates are opening, and pouring forth are the Devilish Daedra of Mehrunes Dagon. Destroy the Daedra, and save the continent of Tamriel, as well as all of Mundus!

One of my favorite games ever made.

Oblivion came out in 2006 on PC, PS3, and XBox 360. Made by Bethesda Softworks.

I spoke with Savlian Matius, the Captain of the Guard of Kvatch. He tells me of their struggles and that they can't even enter the city gates due to the Oblivion Gate, which was indeed blocking the way. I was told to evacuate, but I said no. There could be loot in that gate! Also, he had sent in some men, so likely they had taken out at least some of the Daedric forces inside.
I braced myself to enter the Oblivion Gate, I could feel the heat coming off of it, hot enough to melt good cheese, a whole cheese wheel too. Inside the Gate I found a number of Daedra ready to fight me, and a single Guard, Ilend Vonius, still fighting. Had they all been wiped out? I could see burnt and charred corpses strewn about, most likely the remainder of the Guard Group sent in. They really had all been wiped out.
After ending the fight with the remaining Daedra, Ilend spoke to me. I sent him back out of the gate, he would only serve to impede me, and it may very well cost his life. The rest of the plains were nigh barren, some scattered alchemical ingredients and odd, fleshy pods with plenty of loot in them, and a tower at the end.
In the tower's center room there was a flaming pillar, shooting straight up into the ceiling. I suppose burning my enemies to death won't entirely work, they seem used to it, what with all the lava and this flaming pillar. No cheese in sight, definitely all melted.
The tower itself was not difficult to climb, the Daedra that occupied it were, however, quite difficult to defeat. They proved to be the most of my challenge, spewing fire, paralyzing me, bludgeoning me, I had to stop numerous times to repair my armor and weapons, and if I hadn't death would have most certainly taken me.
At the top of the Daedric, Burning tower there was a Sigil Stone, used to hold the Tower in and Gate in place and open. The burning pillar of fire was shooting right up through the bottom of this room into the Sigil Stone, which was guarded by numerous Daedra. Whee.
Slaying the Daedra took time and effort, but taking the Sigil Stone proved profitable. After taking it, however, fire started spewing all around and it felt as if I was going to leave Mundus behind, but I did not. I awoke, alive and well, outside of the now shut Oblivion Gate. Thank the Nine! Cyrodiil might make me religious yet.
Savlian was pleased by my return, and requested my assistance in taking back Kvatch. I had to prepare for the worst, and told him I'd return.
