In this chapter, Elen conducts her usual diplomacy with House Telvanni, arguably the most difficult of the Three Great Houses but not all that unfriendly once she strikes a deal with Master Aryon of the Telvanni Council. She successfully woos - or bribes - most of the voting members, with the unfortunate exception of Archmagister Gothren in Tel Aruhn, whom she is forced to kill due to his total lack of cooperation. Eventually, all the other votes end up in our protagonist's pocket, and at the end of the day she finds herself in the position of Hortator for all three Houses - now it is time to deal with the Ashlanders and their own whims.
