The Flinstones: The Rescue of Dino & Hoppy (Nes) Playthrough /
The Flinstones: The Rescue of Dino & Hoppy (1991) by Taito is quite a good platform game based on an animated sitcom by Hanna-Barbera, which have its origins in the 1960s. In the game we play Fred Flinston the head of the family and a good father, living in picturesque prehistoric times where dinosaurs live in symbiosis with humans. One day, some asshole goes back in time to prehistory in order to provide his futuristic zoo with specimens from that era. And by a strange coincidence, he ends up in Fred's backyard where, during a sit-down with his good neighbors the Rubbles, he kidnaps their pet "dinosaurs." After which he escapes to his future while mocking everyone there. Haha what an asshole XD. The game is really decent, in terms of graphics as well as sound. Sprites are big and detailed, even nicely animated. The soundtrack although infantile is definitely good to listen to. Why do I think so? Because in my opinion the music consists too much of high pitched squeaky tones. It doesn't suit me personally, but it's not bad. To cope with the problems at our disposal are stereotypical for this period mace and various additional weapons that require ammunition for their use, such as slingshots and stone axes. In general, the game tries to be diverse every level, so we have, for example, a winter level where the character slides after every move made, a haunted castle full of halflings and cheap deaths, and the future, a combination of a bit of everything. The game is quite well balanced when it comes to difficulty level but when it comes to hit detection, our mace is definitely unreliable, which makes it the most common reason for our death. It seems at first glance that it has a range, but in fact it doesn't, which means we have to get really close to our opponents to eliminate them. This often translates into unfortunate damage, and due to the fact that all damage has a knockback effect, therefore when you have a gap behind you, you're doomed to die literally. This is pretty much the only thing that makes this game for some players difficult. If you can handle it, you will quickly find that it is a rather unchallenging game and can definitely be completed in the first sitting. Overall the title is worth recommending, so if you haven't played it, don't hesitate and give it a chance.
