Super Contra (Nes) CO-OP Playthrough / Here we go again .... with unllimited magazines full of lead.
Super Contra (1990) by Konami is is a sequel to one of the most recognizable 8-bit run-and-gun games ever. This time we present Super Contra...... in sumei it's super in name only because too much has not changed here. It's basically the same game, except that this one is set to a total slaughter. There is definitely more shooting and bullet dodging than in the predecessor. But does this translate into an increase in difficulty ? Well, no, because we personally think that the first part was harder than this one..... why? Because the levels here are more straightforward and in most cases we are mainly threatened by the cannon fodder sent in our direction. There are not so many traps here, which, by the way, correlated well with all those hordes of enemies in the first part. Here we just shoot and shoot which is not bad, just different. How the games differ.... The flamethrower instead of releasing a circling projectile now shoots one big cloud which splatters upon contact with the enemy. Boss fights are definitely more interesting and generally better designed in Super C. But it has worse backgrounds and overall worse level design. Personally, I also think that the levels from the bird's eye view are more attractive than the corridors of death from the predecessor. There are pluses there are minuses, but I don't see this Super something. It seems to be more dynamic, but the original game was better balanced. Overall a very decent game, minimally worse in my opinion than its predecessor but still a hell of a ride. Highly recommended.
