In today's videoblog, Barry Donegan from Exceed Your Goals Fitness explains the importance of strengthening the rotator cuff for anyone who participates in exercise, sports, yoga, weightlifting, or training at any level from novice to pro. Rotator cuff surgeries are common among athletes, particularly those who lift weights, throw or hit balls, or balance bodyweight on the arms (e.g. in yoga). Strengthening the rotator cuff might not be the sexiest type of exercise, but it will keep you training safer and longer, and, overall, your aesthetic and performance based results will be at a net gain if you do exercises like lucky cats, internal and external rotations, and face pulls at very light weights.
