Achievement: What a Twist!
Description: Grab the seer stone and the annulus in the title screen
The Land of Eyas is a puzzle platformer (with some speedrunning elements), with puzzles built around the concepts of gravity and momentum... and gravity change. =) Basically, in most of the levels, there's a horizontal line (the "Horizon of Gravitational Change") that splits the level in two, and if you're above the line, gravity pulls you downwards, and if you're below the line, gravity pulls you upwards. Near the beginning of the game, of course, the puzzles start out pretty simple, but they definitely become more complicated later, as new elements are introduced. ^^
Some of the most useful techniques in The Land of Eyas aren't ever really explained anywhere in the game (though there are some hints). And while I did figure some of them out on my own, I did have to learn some of them from MadDoggyca's guide on Steam. ^^
Anyway, to make things easier for anyone who's just starting out, I thought I'd compile what I think are the most useful of these techniques into a single video, for easy reference. As well as a couple useful pieces of information (especially the fact that the title screen delay can be skipped!).
And speaking of easy reference, here's an index! =)
0:17 Technique #1: Wall climb
- While holding a block (or standing on top of it), bump into a wall and keep moving towards it.
- Repeatedly pick up and drop the block (while still moving towards the wall).
0:45 Technique #2: Climbing using the Horizon (slow but easy)
- While holding a block, jump/fall into the Horizon.
- At the bottom/top of your fall/flight, quickly drop and pick up the block.
- Repeat as necessary.
1:09 Technique #3: Climbing using the Horizon (faster but more difficult)
- At the bottom/top of your fall/flight, quickly drop the block then jump.
- As you fall, grab the block just before you bump into it.
- Repeat as necessary.
2:08 Technique #4: Wall climb with key
- This is basically the same as a normal wall climb (move towards the wall and repeatedly pick up and drop the block), except that if you go too fast, you'll leave the key behind!
2:56 Useful info #1: Title screen delay is skippable!
- If you press START (controller) or Escape (keyboard), you can skip the title screen delay, and make the main menu appear immediately!
3:04 Useful info #2: Title screen is playable!
- If you don't skip it, the level in the title screen background is playable!
- Enter and exit the Options menu for a quick way to retry the title screen level.
3:12 Useful info #3: "What a Twist!" achievement!
- In the title screen level, collect the Seer Stone and get to the exit before the main menu appears, to unlock the "What a Twist!" achievement.
