The REAL Reason Game Freak Lied About Sword & Shield
Well, you lovely people requested it. Honestly we thought the whole #GameFreakLied controversy had run its course by this point, but apparently there's still something to say on the matter?
We weren't really too sold on talking about the controversy itself. That's been done to death by commenters on all sides who are far better equipped to discuss this than us. What we did find interesting was exploring the development of Pokemon Sword and Shield to look at what exactly went wrong, what pressures the team was facing, and why they ended up delivering a game that didn't live up to some fans' expectations.
It's worth pointing out that in the latest issue of Nintendo Force magazine, Kotor actively defends Game Freak's decision to limit the Pokedex in Sword and Shield. He stands by this position, but we've tried to be as fair and balanced in this video as possible. We look forward to being told we're wrong by people on both sides of the spectrum regardless.
Wow it's been a long week. This has been an exhausting video to make, with constant script rewrites to get it to this stage. Faced with the inevitable... colourful... comments we just want to go to bed and not think about this for a while.
Love you lots,
