Lovecraft-inspired horror per se doesn't do much for me, but I'm always up for a thick slice of Gothic atmosphere and The Sinking City from Ukrainian developer Frogwares sure does have that in spades. Gameplay-wise, TSC's unique approach to quest design is interesting since it focuses on actual exploration, observation and deduction rather than on blindly following waypoints. While its third-person combat and character animations are decidedly dated, The Sinking City represents an intriguing genre mix and does appear to channel the dark forces of Lovecraft in inspired ways (the sinister urban cityscape which the player is free to explore reminds me of Pathologic and Vampyr, in good ways).
