Reconciling the tension between protagonist Deacon's heroic and homicidal tendencies was always going to be difficult, but Days Gone's weak ending - in a rather head-scratching act of wilful blindness - simply ignores it. What initially seems like the setup for a grim-faced reality check (involving Boozer carrying out what's essentially a terrorist suicide attack) gets undermined completely almost right away. Shortly thereafter, Deacon audaciously invokes Iron Mike in the game's finale without even acknowledging how much his own actions contradicts Mike's hard-won moral code. Apart from such transgressions, Days Gone's ending also leaves a lot of loose ends which may or may not be dealt with in a sequel.
