While the character animation and motion capture in Days Gone aren't exactly state of the art (and there's a sometimes jarring difference in quality between 3D models), these elements are mostly solid from a purely technical standpoint and, more importantly, consistently put to great use by the developer. While most cutscenes in the latest Uncharted games (or the upcoming Last of Us 2, for that matter) look noticeably better than almost everything in Days Gone, the subtlety of facial expressions combined with terrific voice acting (not to mention voice direction) in the latter title nonetheless rival Naughty Dog's best work to date. There's a laser-like precision to the delivery and presentation of each line of dialogue, which is all the more impressive given that this is sprawling open world adventure and not a linear level-based affair.
