The shmup genre is one that I've always wanted to get into. I found that the huge video experts tend to speak of shmups with high praise. It's known for its simplistic mechanics, yet being extremely difficult to the point that it's intimidating. I've done a few attempts beforehand, but thought the genre wasn't for me. That's when I found out about Battle Bakraid, an arcade shmup known for its accessibility.
I definitely loved playing this as this was one I was able to pick up on fairly easy. However, as I kept playing it, I've learned something about myself. My playing style for all games had to completely change, and I've learned some aspects on how to not only improve the experience with video games, but how to improve myself in real life.
