Disney's Abandoned Series/Game | Nightmare Ned Video Game Review (PC, 1997)
I've always had a fascination with children's games. Their accessibility means that you can just jump right in from the get go, and I find their stuff to be more on imaginative side, letting you focus on the creativity of the game instead of anything else. Right from seeing the screenshots of this I knew I had to check it out, as it definitely fits that bill of an imaginative game. In fact, on the website I found out about this from called collection chamber, they called this a Lynchian nightmare for kids.
The thing that makes this special? It's based off of a Disney TV show that ran in 1997. It got cancelled quickly due to production difficulties, specifically creative differences, and I assume it reached the point where Disney decided it wasn't worth it anymore. This is where it gets weird. It seems like Disney is trying to completely disown it. It was never released. In fact, they never even did any reruns. It was uploaded on YouTube last year, and disney didn't even care enough to take it down because of copyright. Since it was from the late 90s, the only source of it is a VHS rip, but if you're a pretentious hipster like me, you're used to seeing stuff like that anyways, so I didn't mind it.
With all this, I was even more surprised that Disney spent the time to make a game out of this. So is this game worth playing? Find out here.
The music used is the in-game music.
