Since around 2010 a terrible bug has haunted Gears of War 2 on Xbox 360, which at first I didn't understand how, why, or when the bug happened. When this problem occurs, if you start Gears of War 2 with an Xbox Live account in particular, thing that you will understand in a minute, the game would just crash before entering in the main menu, and there's nothing you can do about it! Clear the Xbox cache? Nope. Try to play it digitally? Nope. Factory reset the console? Nope! Nothing works to fix this bug. I did contact Support from both Epic Games and Xbox in the past but none of their suggestions were useful, and most of them also were trial and error procedures that I already attempted myself. But why the crash? Well, there is a chance, that this bug occurs when playing in split screen, so, if you are, and the game crashes, most times the game will always crash on start-up for the account of player 1, and some times this also happens for player 2! I know this because out of frustration I made a local account on my Xbox 360 just to play Gears 2, and one day me and my younger brother decided to play the campaign in co-op, which triggered the whole thing, and made me realize why my main account was unable to play Gears 2 for ever... I really wanted to play the game both in single player and in split screen on my Xbox 360 back then, but at this point it's unlikely that Xbox will ever do something about it, never fucking mind Epic Games.... but I am very lucky that a solution is finally in place! For years Gears 2 via backwards compatibility was only playable in english, but I just made a test to verify the information of this video and I'm very happy to announce that Gears 2 now features localization! So thanks to everyone at the Xbox Backward compatibility team for making this possible! I just hope that Epic Games is more careful with the patches of their games in the future!
