So for context, this is Nioh 2, and I want to upgrade my armor set so I can complete the game with it but for some reason the devs thought putting a level cap on augmenting gear was a good idea so that lead me to looking into where to just find higher level versions of the Shinto Priest armor set.

Turns out, just get the smithing text from the snake boss in mission 3 says the internet. What they don't tell you, the drop rate. Devs also thought putting absurdly low drop rates on smithing texts was such a good idea that they gave one to a boss that you can't easily kill over and over again without going through at least two loading screens and the post mission report screen. And I wasn't kidding either, there is no actual drop rate info for almost anything in this game but there is advice for how to boost luck and item drop as that seems to be the best way to increase the odds by some unknown value since no one knows the rate to begin with. 50 kills later I still don't have it. I've filled and sold at least two inventories worth of junk low level armor to npc's from this and still have no text to show for my effort.

In fairness I don't have the best guardian spirit for this grind but he's locked behind dual sword master dojo completion and I figured doing this would be faster than spending a few hours leveling dual sword proficiency for a slightly better rate. I also don't really have much choice in the way of luck cause none of my gear seems to give substantial luck so the best I've been able to do is just kodama boost and kodama core+helm to boost the boost.

Here's hoping I'm not still doing this by next tuesday.
