THROUGH THE FIRE AND FLAMES 8 BIT REMIX - DRAGONFORCE
20welcome to the longest video i have ever done up to this point. i had a fucking blast working on this. sorry for the lack of pixel art, it was an uphill battle to get this exported on my dying computer last night and the pixilart site crashed and lost everything i had worked on and i couldn't be fucking bothered to go back and redo it all.
dragonforce is one of those things that i forgot about for years and only rediscovered recently. zp was a fucking incredible singer and i'd put him up there as one of the best of the best. i also really appreciate the vocal harmonies in songs like soldiers of the wasteland. nu-dragonforce appears to be more or less "meme metal", if that makes sense, and that makes me sad because their stuff from the 2000s is so fucking unironically killer. that isn't to say that i don't like the new singer, (holy shit he isn't very new now, is he? he replaced zp in 2011????? fuckin hell) matter of fact, i think he's quite good in his own right. but still, part of me wonders what would have happened if gh3 never had this song. for one thing, i suppose, i wouldn't have found out about dragonforce until far later down the line, which would have probably drastically changed the course of my life, so i am glad things happened the way that they did at the end of the day. interesting how video game fads like gh come and go so fast. i don't even know what the current gaming trends are anymore, honestly. is the new trend to have pozzed shit in the game so that the mentally ill purchase your game? genuinely, i do not know how in the fuck bald and gay 3 won game of the year. yeah, yeah, i know that goty is gay and a meaningless title, but how the fuck did this game in a series that nobody cared about manage to get so big? that was a rhetorical question. everyone knows why, come on now. i'm convinced that who/whatever is managing the mass gaming psyops is testing to see if putting shamelessly and directly forced politically correct shit sells. clearly, it does. gaming is all the same as the movie slop industry now. big companies will sell a gorillion copies of their shit just by virtue of either:
a. being made by a big company
b. being an entry in a well-established ip
c. having a famous person featured in the project
or d. having forced politcal pandering to the mentally ill and the like
and then getting their award for having the rabid infertile cuckolds raving about it on reddit. video games should probably stop being made. the only reason i'm not entirely in support of tvd (total vidja death) is because i like having new osts to listen to but even then most games have had fucking bad soundtracks in recent years. the past two sonic games - entries in a franchise best known for stellar compositions - were awfully forgettable. "b-bub-ub--buu-b-ubuh eggo what about ff7 remake you like ff7 right" yes, i do like ff7, it is indeed one of my favorite games, but remakes don't count for accolades as if they were new releases. totk and botw had barely any songs beyond some of the themes. hopefully new shinobi picks up the slack, i guess. i'm a big shinobi fan so i am quite happy to see that they're making a new one and that it actually looks good. sega has been dropping the ball with sonic and yakuza (i will not call it like a dragon) recently so it's nice to see that they're still capable of making what look to be fun games. shinobi 3 is such a good fucking game. i think people are getting worse at making games because there is such a critical lack of creativity in modern professional games. niche indie titles can be cool but everything feels derivative in the triple a world now. it sucks that slop such as that is the only thing that sells anymore because the industry could really use another big hugely unique title like vvvvvv or shovel knight. vvvvvv is one of my favorite games ever made, probably my third favorite. i don't typically have a "favorite" anything but i make an acception for video games because it isn't hard for me to pick favorites considering how i either love a game or i hate it. i just think games are such a good medium for creating art that it makes me sad to see how homogenized the modern landscape is and how most people aren't aware enough to complain about it and advocate for the better. i don't fucking want politics in games, i don't need to hear about how chuds are getting btfo'd by the heckin wholesome animal sex. i don't want movie games that sell just by virtue of being trendy or by being part of an established franchise. i don't want people to only play what the algorithm tells them to play. i don't want video games to be shit. i just want future generations to have genuinely fun video games. i don't give two shits about most games anymore. i don't have much time anymore for any games, it's just that the modern climate could be so much better than it is.
