i sat down staring at the asgore battle sprite trying to figure out what the fuck it was that toby was going for and i still think i got it wrong because of how odd the sprite looks. oh well, who cares?
i talked about undertale a few weeks ago so i've not much to talk about in regard to my opinions on the game itself and the culture around it. i believe i also talked about how boring, bad, and gay i think deltarune is so i can't even talk about that either. i was thinking earlier this week how many fucking terrible and derivative games undertale spawned and became generally bothered by how derivative a lot of internet content is now. like, you know what i fucking loathe that i'll probably never have the chance to talk about? analog horror. it's that genre of internet horror that is in with the youths of this day and it's somehow worse than every other generation of internet horror leading up to this point. "wahh wahh eggo why are you complaining about internet horror being derivative, all the creepypastas you suck off are just ben drowned clones" yeah, but i see that as slightly different. creepypastas generally are not that good. they never were and never will be but there's an earnest effort shown in a lot of cases and they know exactly what they are, urban legend-type stories about video games. there is no intergalactic plot or boring downtime where the screen is just black with words and pictures with a fuckin shitty vhs filter, just some kid writing a cool thing. "oh so you like nes godzilla then, right?" no, bitch. nes godzilla is not good, but the earlier bits of it showed at least some level of inspiration. the modern equivalent of creepypastas are just using the same tired tropes except somehow doing them marginally worse because of the lack of innovation. a lot of "scary" internet content now is more laughably bad than ever because that kind of thing is getting way more traction than it ever has causing people who should not at all be doing it to get their stained, dry, stiff, and brown hands on it. the singular bit of modern internet horror i like is urbanspook's shit because it has the similar heart of the old creepypasta in that is knows exactly what it is and takes being the way that it is in stride. yes, i am an edgelord [homosexual slur], so the stuff in those is going to make me laugh at the extreme nature more than anything else, but that is just my individual reaction to that kind of thing. so this badass motherfucker, right, he makes a fun little project to put his art (which varies wildly in quality, honestly) out there, and then people just fuckin lay in to him for the OFF SCREEN depictions of shit. horror should be something that bothers you on the individual basis on any level, not just vague and lame bullshit. the mark of a successful piece of horror media is whether or not you are in some way touched by it, so why would it be, then, that people freaked the fuck out over horror doing its job? because something doesn't follow the guidelines of what is or isn't acceptable? children and soft people who fall under the homosexual umbrella should not be the dictators of what is allowed on the internet and the world needs more people who are willing and able to push the boundaries of what is seen as socially acceptable. why are [the mentally ill, if you're picking up what i'm putting down] unable to seperate fiction from reality? that was a rhetorical question, it's obvious as to why. the main reason for that is that their reality is founded upon their fictionalized and superficial understanding of their own self.
y'know, that last point really hinges on you sniffing what i'm scratching and i really do not want to get in hot water with youtube again (my warning expired, pretty cool, eh?) so moving on, now.
yeah, people need to be more willing to be unique in an increasingly gay and homogenous internet culture. who the fuck cares if pushing the limits ostracizes you? would you rather have dignity and spark new innovations and face the possible consequences of that or would you rather be doing the same shit that everyone else is doing as a means of being accepted or whatever? if you pick the latter, you are subhuman and should not reproduce. audibly chuckled as i was writing that. it's fine, of course, to be doing something similar to things that have been done before, but do that shit in your own way. i guess as an example, i like to think that what i do sets itself apart from a lot of chiptune people because of my blatant refusal to use famitracker and disregard for console limitations (does that make it "muh fakebit"? don't bother answering, i don't give a fuck, lmao) along with these schizo ramblings. that's the kind of unique touch that people should bring to their works yet is being seen more rarely than it has previously.
moral of the story: be unabashedly yourself in everything you do, everyone else can fuck off if they don't like it.
have a wonderful day, gentlemen. god bless.
