With the discovery of The Ark and its location somewhere within the presidential palace in Tbilisi, Georgia, Sam is sent to infiltrate the building, recover the Ark and eliminate Nikoladze to stop him from using it. As he enters the palace whose perimeter is protected by heavily armed Georgian special forces and high-tech security measures, Sam discovers that the special forces patrolling the palace are actually loyal to Cristavi, who is also looking to recover The Ark, to that end planning to let Nikoladze enter the palace long enough to reveal the weapon's location and activation key before he'd double-cross him. Despite this, Sam is ordered to only focus on Nikoladze since Cristavi is affiliated with CIA. Eventually, Sam finds the laptop where he discovers that The Ark is actually a suitcase nuclear device. Realizing the true importance of the weapon to both Nikoladze and Cristavi, Sam sets out to find a way to retrieve the weapon, intending to do so by interrogating Nikoladze himself. Eventually, Sam enters the palace's library where he finds a concealed enterance into the basement. Within, he finds Nikoladze standing near a safe with retinal scanner and despite Nikoladze refusing to tell him anything about The Ark or its location, is forced to hand him the weapon's activation key. Just as he does, Cristavi's special forces enter the basement as well, having betrayed and killed Nikoladze's remaining loyalists. In the ensuing standoff, Nikoladze reveals that the safe contained only the activation key for The Ark since the weapon itself has already been smuggled into the United States, offering to reveal its location to Cristavi in an exchange for his life. Agreeing to the trade, Georgian troops lead Nikoladze to Cristavi while Sam is left in the basement to be interrogated and for the activation key to be taken from him. Unwilling to let his mission fail, Sam's support tea, remotely triggers a brief blackout in the basement, allowing Sam to slip away and pursue after Nikoladze. Eventually, Sam reaches the palace's courtyard and manages to see Nikoladze negotiating with Cristavi. Aware that this is going to be his only chance to kill Nikoladze, Sam climbs onto one of the balconies overlooking Nikoladze's room and swiftly assassinates him from the distance before proceeding to escape the palace with The Ark's activation key still in his possession, eliminating the threat of its detonation for good.
