Tom Clancy's: The Division 2 (Xbox One X) - Gameplay
Welcome to Game Play. A series, of sorts, where I check out various video games and share my experiences with you.
Today we're taking a look at Tom Clancy's: The Division 2 (Xbox One X).
I've spent several hours playing the orginal The Division when it launched a few years ago. Initially, I was hooked by the audiovisual presentation and the feeling of wandering the abandoned streets of New York. The christmas setting of joy only helped highlighting the stark contrast of the harsh reality and struggles of the survivors. Being among The Division Agents, the players were tasked to bring peace and stability and uncover the dark secrets looming underneath the surface.
The game had its flaws, as do all games, but I kept on going regardless. Was I rewarded with something special in the end? No, not really, but I did enjoy my 60+ hours of taking in the sights and sounds of N.Y.C.
When I first heard about The Division 2, I was immediately ready to get back into the action. I've been playing it now for several hours, and I'm having quite a good time. The charm and audiovisual presentation from the first game are there to be enjoyed, while delivering an updated experience overall.
The Division 2 has the same style of combat and gameplay as the original game, but the sequel does feature different elements. For instance, the enemies are a lot more difficult to take out than in the original. To some extent, this makes the game harder to beat, but it can also be quite frustrating as each enemy requires nearly a full magazine to take down. Considering how the game is full of combat situations, the over-powered enemies can feel bothersome. Especially when taking down boss characters that can take ridiculous amounts of punishment.
However, I really enjoy myself when playing The Division 2. It truly shines when playing with others so do remember to matchmake when entering new missions, as co-op with either friends or other players will heighten the experience dramatically.
Washington D.C. might be in its worst state, but I still highly recommend everyone taking the trip and buy this game. In terms of live service games, The Division 2 has loads to keep you entertained for months to come. Is it the perfect game? No, absolutely not, but it sure isn't the worst of the bunch. Check it out.
The game was recorded on Xbox One X, running 4K. The video file has been pulled directly from the console. No post-work has been done.
