Tyrian 2000 - Engage Mode - Part 19 (Botany B)
On the edge of Station Gryphon are hydroponic labs. These fields grow plants of all sorts, greatly boosting Microsol's economy where one would least expect it, and providing food to all the station. Trent realizes he can either pass through the outer edge of the labs, where few turrets are present but large ships have room to fly, or through the inner labs, where only turrets can fit.
He chooses the latter, judging that hydroponic labs are not going to be too heavily defended when Microsol already sent 3 separate fleets at him.
Unfortunately, he is as wrong as he can get. He is unaware of Microsol's military tests in this area. Like the Asteroid 2 system, powerful weapons have been tested in the Botany B labs. The scientists have installed so many defense turrets the place became overfilled with them - there are so many that no leader, under any circumstance, would actually use such a powerful but costly defense in a real war.

I put Annotations to guide any courageous player who DIDN'T give up on her or his Engage Mode Playthrough upon reaching this level.
Alright, the reason I talked about this level before, is that it's THE hardest part in the game. It SHATTERS most "difficult" levels. Other levels are hard too, perhaps harder than this one for some, but as far as I'm concerned, this one takes the cake. And runs with it beyond the horizon. And eats it.
There's ONE things that makes it so hard : the Purple Automatic Turrets. Let's call them "PAT". They are the ones that shoot 3 firebullets.
What about them? Well... so many things my description was too long for the video. Simply put, they're as dangerous as most bosses.
So, to survive this, I eventually made a strategy, which I polished and practice a lot. A LOT. It took me 69 attempts to win. Yes, SIXTY-NINE ATTEMPTS. About 45 to perfect my strategy, and the other 24 to succeed it. There was just too much randomness included.
EDIT - The only video that took more attempts that I'm sure of, is my Asbel vs 7x Barbatos one, but that was due to a game-breaking glitch that made the fight nearly impossible.
I separated the level in many parts, "Segments" I call them, with a strategy for each. A Segment usually lasts for a few seconds.
The Repulsor does a magnificent job pushing the big, slow bullets away, but it doesn't work against super-fast firebullets, and might activate a special command while you're spamming it. Lose your shield because of it, and you're unlikely to live for 3 more seconds.
The Ice Beam could be better here, maybe. Freeze them turrets.
The most dangerous part of the level is right before the boss. You get many PATs appearing on the far left of the screen. You MUST destroy as many as you can ; otherwise you'll be targeted by maybe 6 PATs at once.
To further complicate matters, on the right side will appear some stationary horizontal-shooting cannons, like those on Torm. What I did is dodge the PAT hellfire while simultaneously maneuvering through the horizontal cannon bullets.
Invulnerability helps nuke the first two PATs there. Then you must be evasive yet aggressive to get at least the two next.
There's a boss, too. Same one as Torm, so quite dangerous. I screwed up Invulnerability, noticed in time to not ram the boss, and at least an Ice Blast was inputted, sparing me a stream of bullets.
If you don't mind losing a life, this level becomes easier. Thanks to the invulnerability time after dying, you can get past the hardest part quite easily.
Finally, one advice :
Keep your composure. You have everything you need to win.
