Tyrian 2000 - "Fleet" on Hard mode (for fun)
Just to show how fun the game can be on something other than Engage Mode.
"Fleet" is one of my favorite levels. "Hard" mode is easy for someone who played this game a very long time.
Ship&Weapons :
I noticed that getting used to Engage Mode's Special Commands actually made some things easier ; for example, using Invulnerability to kill a Magnetic Claw. I can't here, as my ship only has the Hot Dog Blast and Ice Blast as Special weapons (ironically, both available in Engage Mode).
My ship is the almighty FoodShip9, or SuperCarrot, whatever. The most advanced EDIBLE fighter ever produced!
You can get it at the end of the game if you restart (something everyone playing the shareware version should notice at some point). You can also buy it in some (Secret?) levels. It has quite the armor, and it's just epic.
Special Weapon : Ice Beam. You can see it in action ; it freezes enemies by turning them white and unable to shoot. However it's quite useless in this level ; I only messed around with it, especially on the boss.
I've also got myself the Laser at level 11, and the Rear Sonic Cannon at level 11. The Laser is my favorite Front Weapon, and one of the strongest. The Sonic Cannon looks cool, but is not as powerful as one might think.
The Full Game forces you to have a Generator (the yellow/orange bar in the status bar), and if it's too low, your weapons will fire slower and your shield won't recharge. With the Gravitron Pulsewave, the best generator, only the Lightning Cannon and the Zica Flamethrower have a chance at causing you energy problems. So with my weapons, there's no problem.
I also got a kickass shield, the MicroCorp HXS Class A. It's the 2nd best Shield in the game, available ONLY on Soh Jin, one of the secret levels after the very first one. It's amazing ; far more powerful than Engage Mode's shield. Only the HXS Class C, available on the last level of Episode 5 only, is better. The Shareware version also had the HXS B, which replaced the HXS A, but was better.
Finally, the SideKicks. They are fun weapons. I've got myself two Plasma Storms, because they are so damn awesome. Sure, they got nerfed compared to the Shareware version of the game : more expensive, less ammo, and I believe less power. But hey, it's Nuclear Plasma Fucking Storm. Buy one today! Buy a second one tomorrow.
So yeah, played for fun.
