Ubuntu 13.10 VS Windows 8 : Lost Planet 2 Benchmark with Wine 1.7.1-CSMT [Test B]
61FPS performance for Lost Planet 2 benchmark in Wine 1.7.1-CSMT and Windows 8.
On the Ubuntu side of things, we have Wine 1.7.1 with the CSMT patch. Ubuntu is using the 319 Nvidia drivers here.
On the Windows side of things, we have the game running natively. Windows is using the R331 Nvidia drivers here.
In both instances of the benchmark, the settings for Lost Planet 2 Test B was kept the same. The only things disabled were V-Sync and Anti-Aliasing for both systems.
Some may ask why I didn't just use normal Wine. The answer is simple, the benchmark does not work in normal Wine for me. Even in CrossOver it just barely works, but with black textures.
This video is meant to highlight where we are in terms of Wine performance versus Windows performance, at least in regards to Lost Planet 2's graphical requirements.
To get Lost Planet 2 Benchmark working, I had to install the following in Wine first:
1. Xact
2. Xinput
3. Wmp9
4. WmpCodecs
5. DirectX9
In the registry editor for Wine, within the Direct3D key, I enabled CSMT and disabled StrictDrawOrdering.
This video is just to highlight the performance I get in both Operating Systems and Wine. They are NOT representative of what anyone else may experience, whether current, past or future.
