And here comes the last bit of the action, just in case there hadn't been enough already for whatever reason... I sure can't get enough, but I'd hazard another 'hazard (not to mention those of you at home) might not always agree, because I'm just plain nuts.

Last one!

Match #1 -- Metro City
Rocket Raccoon, Taskmaster, and Amaterasu (The Overhazard)
vs.
C. Viper, Thor, and X-23 (YuuGiJoou)

Now, in this case, I actually *wish* I could've taken some credit for the pre- and post-battle banter we're treated to here, except the reasons are pretty mundane... basically I have no confidence that I'll get any mileage out of Viper or Thor, since we've seen my use of the former lately and the latter... well, the poor big lug moves like a brick and has almost no range to speak of, and even his sole projectile and movement-inducing specials leave much to be desired. Don't get me wrong, I WANT to like Thor, as I've said... but... I just don't get how he's supposed to be a major threat given the tools. Then again, when all you've got is a hammer... every problem looks like it's trying to nail you. Wait... no... that's not--

Anyway, it's a weird day indeed if X-23 becomes my best hope for... not getting slaughtered, but she's been doing that a surprising many times this session, so I guess that's a sign I should reevaluate my thoughts about whether or not she falls on the "can not use" list. At the very least, she's much better off in my book than her "dad," apparently. Weird, that.

And then of course I don't have to tell you that the ending was hardly of my choosing, but I did come to the realization that with the dwindling health on both sides, I'd be liable to lose Viper quickly enough and Laura was on the front assist... and if she really was my best hope at doing something in how little time remains, I'd better shore up some extra life for her right quick... which I promptly mostly wasted with a botched Hyper from Viper and an attempt to salvage the situation for no explainable reason with another botched Hyper.

Of course, what REALLY won the day was Thor's bricklike constitution, so... I do in fact probably owe him some manner of apology.

Given her presence on the other team... I wonder, would X-23 have the same things to say to Amaterasu as well?

Match #2 -- Danger Room
Storm, She-Hulk, and Magneto (YuuGiJoou)
vs.
Hsien-ko, Shuma-Gorath, and Sentinel (The Overhazard)

The fact that the players switched sides does indeed indicate that this is an entirely different set... and in fact it's a lobby rather than a Player Match set, which brings some small differences into the framing interfaces capping them off, not that you're likely to see them unless you're all-too-aware what those are. Of course, the one you've just been made aware of is the fact that winning will put you in P1's position, which I like for its introduction of a little bit of variety as to who gets to "choose" the starting character theme.

Anyway, far more importantly is that The Overhazard is throwing a little bit of practice at the Normal controls mode, which is born out of a strong desire to actually be allowed to use certain characters, like Phoenix Wright or Frank West with their vital gimmicks left intact. There are of course more examples, but those are the two that will always stick in my mind as being totally crippled by Simple's excess "simplicity"... and I've ranted on the subject of how it's a definite step in the wrong direction compared to the previous game in the vs. Capcom "series" giving the notion a try.

Anyway, the battle itself is... really not "fair" in the sense that I'm unaffected and obviously the difference between Simple and Normal is like night and day.

But I digress, the MOST important detail here is "Full Roster"... requiring I face off with the entirety of the game's cast online, and by process of elimination, I must confess surprise (though sadly not as much as one might hope) to note that it was Hsien-ko that was the missing link for so long.

Match #3 -- S.H.I.E.L.D.
Phoenix, Chris, and Haggar (YuuGiJoou)
vs.
Phoenix, Akuma, and Phoenix Wright (The Overhazard)

There are clearly too many Phoenices flocking in from nowhere here. The Overhazard seems keen on decrying this team as one with the absolute least synergy possible... I'm rather wont to disagree, but for reasons I'm not really qualified to presume to enumerate... but basically Nick goes for Turnabout without his Level 3 Hyper and Jean stores up the stocks.

I'd probably want someone a bit stiffer and sturdier than Akuma to fill in the gaps between, but in a game that's almost all offense, I guess that's not really technically supposed to be an issue either. Plus his assist is arguably the reason why he remains ever-present in competitive play, at least the way I hear it.

Besides that, this is basically a comedy of errors on how not to use or counter the potential of a Dark Phoenix on both sides.
