-Read description for more info and incoherent rambling-

This is the very early rendition of the Uruk Intro stage in Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy. We can see that the basic level design for the area was almost finalised, with the starting area being almost identical to the final version, however the rest of the level has variations to the design.

As with most introduction stages in games, this is just a stage that demonstrates controls and game mechanics, veiled in plot. It gives areas to get the player used to jumping and climbing, while showing off certain puzzle mechanics such as levers and pressure plate puzzles, as well as giving the player areas to engage in combat.

Comparing the tutorial here to the final version, the only differences are there's no push puzzles (move the statues to adjust lava flow), no attackable switches (such as the one to enable the magical platform), moving platforms to hang on to, and features a pressure plate puzzle. Also, Imhotep is nowhere to be found. If some unused text is to be interpreted correctly, it would appear that you encountered Imhotep in Heliopolis, rather than immediately at the start of the game.

While I do understand that this is a very early rendition of the intro (I'm not sure when this version was developed), there's a few things that I don't quite understand with the plot featured. When Horus talks, his dialogue is presented in a less arrogant manner. While I do prefer Horus being nice, for once, it doesn't quite make much sense when you consider the final plot later on. I do have some speculation on this, but it's not really pertinent to this video. I'm not entirely sure what the cutscene with Menes and the Portal God is about, there doesn't seem to be any text associated with it (as far as I know).

Apologies if I made any mistakes and typos in the video, I wouldn't say proof reading is my strong point.
