Also known as Eight Ball or Eight Ball Action, this is a decent game of pool for 1982. Of course, Side Pocket would come out a number of years later and rock the billiards world, but this one was fine for the time. Balls from 1-8 are racked and waiting for you to break them; to strike a ball move the white dot with a joystick towards (or on) the ball, leading from your cue and depending on where the angle of the dot is, is which angle the ball will travel when struck. A power meter at the bottom of the screen moves from 1 (lowest) to 3 (greatest), signifying the power of your strike. Special points are given for sinking in certain corners, getting all balls in a row 1-7 and then the 8 without a miss (5,000), and other bonuses are tallied at the end of a rack. Sink the cue ball, sink the 8 ball out of turn, or use up 3 "misses" and you lose a "turn". 3 "turns" lost and the game is over. Not a bad game of pool, and one of Century Electronics' best and most popular games (Dazzler and Hunchback were also among their better titles).
