Have you ever just picked-up and played a video game that you literally know nothing about?

It can be fun to go into something with absolutely zero expectations and just see what happens.

I recently did this with The Chant, and here’s what happened.

Pretty quickly, I figured out that this was a survival-horror game, somewhat similar to Resident Evil, but with a mystic psychedelic twist.

The game’s a little rough around the edges, so I could tell it wasn’t a AAA game, but certainly not an indie either.

Surprisingly, the core gameplay was decent. The combat’s a little awkward, but it fits the vibe, and I think the developers want you to feel somewhat powerless.

A lot of the game is spent exploring. Searching for keys to unlock new areas. But also, scattered around are healing items and supplies needed to craft weapons.

There are some unique boss encounters towards the end, and get 1 of 3 different endings, based on your decisions throughout the game.

No spoilers, but the endings are laughably bad, which ultimately leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth.
