Why ARMS' Creators Wanted Min Min in Smash Bros
So apparently Min Min is joining Super Smash Bros Ultimate as the first DLC character from Fighter's Pass 2. Well done Min Min, commiserations Spring Man. Congrats to Ninjara who snuck in anyway, staying very much on-brand.
Why did Min Min of all characters get chosen? Because ARMS producer Kosuke Yabuki wanted her in Smash. So, he got his wish.
But WHY did he want Min Min of all characters? He's claimed that Spring Man is probably the character he's played in ARMS the most. He says that Twintelle is sometimes his favourite, being such a strong and unique character design among Nintendo's roster.
Min Min won, though, because: Kosuke Yabuki loves ramen. No, really, that's why he likes Min Min the best. It's a bit of a joke to him, but because Min Min has a connection to ramen, he simply likes her design.
Other members of the team agree. Art director Masaaki Ishikawa feels like she's the most relatable, in large part because she likes ramen, but also because she's got a cute ramen-themed beanie.
If ever you were in doubt about the role of ramen in Japanese culture, hopefully now you've learned something.
Anyway, it's late and I want to go to bed. Bye!
