Returning to the Castle as Hawk Man to get the Legendary Weapons. I had to do it in 2 tries, for some stupid reason I didn't go to the Meka Dragon's old boss room in my first go and decided to turn right instead, so I got to the bit where the Legendary Armour Drops, so I then had to go back to the castle to get the Sword. I didn't have enough Cash to get the Legendary Shield from the secret shop (which I could just about remember how to find from playing the game back in the 80's), so I need to farm a bit of dosh before going back (again). Fortunately, there's a chest room just to the right of the village you can reach as Hawk-Man, that shells out quite a bit of cash with each visit. You just need to get the cash, exit to the title (the game seems to autosave at this point) and re-start the game and fly back to the chest. I built up enough cash for the Legendary Shield within about 3 minutes or so.

On to the final area and final boss after this. I'm pretty sure there are some more heart containers to pick up first...
