XB1X Star Wars Battlefront 2 G54, 2P local splitscreen Arcade on Maz's Castle, Caphex Spy!
In a change of pace, we switched from Arcade Versus to Co-op, to practice when the newly introduced, Resistance Reinforcement units! Vid timeline:
(0:00) Intro.
(5:47) Match begins.
We play as:
First player: Resistance Ovissian Gunner.
Blaster: Modified Z6-B Rotatory Cannon.
Abilities: Anti-Armor Mode, Defensive Stance, Charge.
Boost Cards: Survivalist, Battle Hardened, Acquisition.
Second player: Resistance Caphex Spy.
Blaster: Modified GLIE-44.
Abilities: Scanner Beacon, Rapid Fire, Truncheon Attack.
Boost Cards: Interrogation, Acquisition, Desperation.
In addition to Ability Recharge set to slow, which is how we always play, Player Health is set to Half. Also, it's a 2v4 match, with just us to versus a team of 4: a combination of Assault and Heavy First Order Troopers.
We start with the Caphex Spy, which is armer with a blaster pistol than can turn into a machine pistol of sorts via one of his abilities.
His Scanner Beacon is weaker than the faster recharging Seeker Tactics of the Sith Trooper. But, it comes with the alternative ability of being able to be used to call in an Orbital Bombardment. This can be very deadly. But in Arcade, there won't be many areas to employ that, since the beacon need to be deployed outside for that. Takodana therefore, seems to be the best candidate map for that.
Due to it's short duration, I think Rapid Fire should be used as an emergency firepower boost, to take out a single threatening opponent to oneself or a friendly. Make each shot count.
But just like the BX Commando Droid's Vibro Sword, the Caphex Spy's Truncheon Attack is what's going to be either the deal maker or breaker here in Arcade Versus. Fortunately the Sith Trooper's Combat Rush looks like a viable counter, unlike with anything the Clone Reinforcement Units have. This makes the BX Droid Commando impossible to beat.
But as stated before, it all comes down to the AI Bots inability to perform Combat Rolls here, unlike in Instant Action. Such maneuvers are crucial in evading close combat weapon attacks.
Next, we have the Ovissian Gunner. This Enforcer type of Reinforcement Unit is definitely mean to wreak havoc from a distance. The tactical opposite of the First Order's Enforcer Reinforcement Unit, the Flame Trooper. Her Rotatory Cannon's rate of fire and damage output are definitely out there. As expected, her has no weapon zoom in return. The Rotatory Cannon also has the usual spin up delay commonly found in such weapons.
Here in Arcade, Anti-Armor Mode is going to be useful against Heavy class troopers with shields active, but not much else. From a rapid fire to slow rate of fire single blasts, which a longer spin up delay. Perhaps that can also be useful against tightly packed targets.
Defensive Mode is definitely going to more useful. It grants longer sustained fire, while giving health recharge benefits for herself as well as nearby enemies.
Instead of having Fortify, the Ovissian Gunner has Charge, which she can use as an emergency, to either get out of danger or, knock down a single opponent in from. Like the First Order Jet Trooper's Jetpack Charge, need to be careful with this one. Don't want to take off running unto an opponent, only to find out, his buddy where standing right next to him.
Is worth noting here that the activation of certain abilities trigger an animation, rendering the Ovissian Gunner vulnerable for about a second and a half/2 seconds. Use caution.
