So sorry this took so long to get out here! This was once meant to be a video documenting my first voyage of my Skell, and honestly that would have been more entertaining considering how uh..."well" that went. I totaled it, basically. For now, here's a quick demonstration of my Skell, Crimson.

I try to keep spoilers to a minimum here, so you'll just see one tiny piece of Primordia, the continent you'll start the game on. With a brief tease of Noctilum, likely the second continent you'll visit. Skells are robot exoskeletons that you can pilot. They're a tremendous help in both battle and navigation, transforming into cool vehicles even!

We begin in the BLADE Barracks, where your Skell is housed. I just wanted to show what I have equipped on it currently, which is for the most part the starting set, barring a few new things here or there. Then we set out for an area to the east of New Los Angeles, your hub of sorts.

Primordia is composed of large green hills, and many, MANY scary enemies. I decided to play it safe here, as while your Skells are powerful tools, they are not invincible. And if their HP is reduced to zero, they're totaled. I'd rather that not happen, no sir!

Now, there's a LOT going on here and I'm sure this information is all very overwhelming to those who haven't played this or Xenoblade on Wii. Battles play out in an MMO style. You do auto attacks and can move about the battlefield freely, and select Arts (those things at the bottom) to do the REAL damage. All Arts have their own additional effects and I try to do my best with them here. Strategy and team work wins out!

In battle, a Skell's Arts are determined by what you have equipped to it, and this build overall is fairly balanced. I chose a stronger than average enemy to demonstrate everything Skells can do. Then I took on a similar one on foot to show the difference. Now, it didn't take that much longer to fell it, but then, I've outlevled that thing quite a bit. Generally, the larger the enemy, the more health they have. And so, bigger enemies generally NEED Skells so you can actually make a dent in their health.

Two things about battles to highlight. Soul Voice is what happens when allies call out for a particular Art. "Use melee attacks!" and the like. Responding to what they ask for triggers a Soul Voice Heal, builds affinity between team members and its something you generally want to do whenever possible.

When in a Skell, if you stagger foes, you can then Bind them. Once Bound, enemies can't attack or move at all, and will even take more damage for a time. The Skell in charge of binding can't capitalize on that, so that's where allies come in...the AI isn't the best at that point. Once I get my team mates their Skells, I'll have to see how they do with binding.

That cave in Noctilum was fun times, huh? Meant to take on only one ape and took on the whole damn...herd? And then ran like a coward once it was just Crimson left. That's how you win!

After that's all said and done, one quick jaunt through NLA. And a wave to the camera, why not? Takes a second to find the gestures on the game pad...and I probably could have left the capture on a few more seconds, but hey, the wave went through!

Once my Skells are capable of flight, I'll be back for one more video to showcase how huge Mira can be, going across all five continents....but that'll be a while. See you then!
