Bayonetta - Chapter 1 A
The Angel's Metropolis awaits, where we shall meet Angel Superman! Well, not really, but wouldn't that be neat?!
Welcome to the first REAL chapter of the game, with a LOT of stuff bombarding us. As you'll soon see, I split this first chapter up quite a bit to try to keep things easily digestible. We begin with everyone's FAVORITE budget-saving method of travel, traveling along maps! And here is Vigrid, our setting for most of the game. Huh, and its considered Paradise...
We never DID get a title card for this, so why not now? While Bayo struts! But suddenly, ominous voice! Oh well, I'm sure its nothing. Let's focus more on item compounds! All pretty self-explanatory, huh? I won't be doing much making of items though, but all the ingredients are given to us right away. You can hold up to 99 of each and overall, it takes anywhere from five of an ingredient to several bits of each compound to make items. I'll cover it later, I swear!
After a tiny little Easter Egg of sorts with that broken Moon Pearl (realtalk, I found out about that like two days before I recorded this run so...goody for you! Turns out destroying stuff DOES have a purpose!), let's get right into it with Wicked Weaves! As you can see (even before they're properly explained!), they are combo enders. In Bayo 1 Wicked Weaves are SUPER strong, and our poor little Handguns from before just couldn't use them, but that's no problem with Rodin's latest! You can tell when Bayo's readying a weave when her outfit starts to disappear...yeah, she's wearing hair. That either makes her outfit less sexy or more sexy depending on who you are! For these Weaves in particular, she's summoning the power of the demon Madama Butterfly, a beautiful, ruthless demon that seems to be the one Bayo's bonded to the most. You even see her shadow in place of Bayonetta's! More on her later.
So many things have been thrown at us in this first section alone. Keys (which are also weapons!), those statues, and then Witch Time being used for platforming. Remember, the director for this game also directed Viewtiful Joe. I think he hadn't quite gotten using slow motion in platforming sequences out of his system yet.
To close out this section, here's Rodin once again. And here we have perhaps THE most cring-inducing line in the entire series. Sorry Bayo, I love you but....please never say that again. Rodin's looking to make some cash, so let's spend some Rings...I-I mean, Halos!
Next time we'll journey to The Gates of Hell...sounds like a fun, family-friendly place!
