Zarlor Mercenary is a top-down, vertical scrolling shooter for the Atari Lynx. In my opinion, this is one of the best shooters on a handheld system. When you start the game, you select which mercenary you'd like to play as. Each mercenary has their own strength. For example: one will always have a laser equipped, one might always have auto fire, or one might always have power shots.

For every enemy ship or piece of enemy property you destroy, you earn money. Once you get to the end of the stage, you can use the money you earned to buy power ups for your ship. You can also sell extra power ups that you collect while playing the stages. Level 1 is fairly simple, but once you get to Level 2, the difficulty gets cranked up.

Since I have never owned an Atari Lynx, I always wished that this game would have been ported to the Sega Genesis or SNES. This game was unique for its time.
