This is video #04 in my playthrough of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for the SNES. In Kakariko Village, Link has learned where the village elder is hiding. Before going after him, there is still a bit of exploring to do.

In the southern part of town, he finds the library (time 0:10). Hm, there is a green book atop the western shelf. How do we dislodge it?

Next, Link checks out the long house to the southwest (time 0:24). The bull-headed brothers here are quarreling. To make peace and go through to the other side, Link can blast the wall open with a bomb.

Out the west door, Link can take part in a bit of a racing minigame (time 1:04). He has to reach the goal in 15 seconds. The prize for winning is Heart Piece #04! An additional Heart Container!

There is a chest minigame to the east, but this one doesn't have any special prizes.

Southeast of town, Link will find the fairy grove, where a boy is playing the flute amid several forest critters (time 2:40). How Disney-ish! However, he disappears when Link gets too close. Hm...

East, north, and east, Link will be back at his house (time 3:49). No time to rest, though.

From there, he heads south. South and a little west, he finds the Watergate (time 4:23). In the back room, he can pull the right lever to drain the pond. This allows him to collect Heart Piece #05!

West of Watergate, Link will find a distinctly unfriendly man (time 5:07).

Father west, he will enter the Desert of Mystery (time 5:31). In the eastern cave, he finds an elder, but not the one he's looking for. Aginah offers some information about the Book of Mudora. However, the real reason to come here is to blow open the southern wall. To the south, there is a chest containing Heart Piece #06.

A Great Fairy's Fountain can be found in the area east of the desert (time 7:11).

Returning to the Watergate, Link collects some Bombs from the chest in the front room (time 7:43).

To the east, near the shores of Lake Hylia, he can blow open a cave entrance (time 8:23). After defeating the foes, Link can get to the back room. The thief hiding here will give him 300 Rupees for his silence. His chests contain 3 Bombs, 20 Rupees, 20 Rupees, and 10 Arrows.

After returning to his house, Link then heads east. To the south, on the northwest shore of Lake Hylia, there are a fortune teller and a shop.

Link next crosses the big bridge east of his house (time 11:39). Continuing north, he makes his way back to the Magic Shop (time 12:35). He gives the witch the Mushroom that he found in the Lost Woods. After going one screen away and then returning, he can go inside to collect his prize: Magic Powder. This is useful stuff. It can turn Anti-Fairies into Fairies.

Heading south, Link then follows the path east of the big bridge (time 14:20). Another Great Fairy's Fountain is in the screen to the east.

To the north, Link will enter the grounds of the Eastern Palace (time 14:53). Directly north of that entrance, he will find the small building where Kakariko Village's elder is hiding (time 15:09). The elder is Sahasrahla. He assigns Link to visits the Eastern Palace nearby and collect the Pendant of Courage. Will do.

There are also some treasures in the northern room: 50 Rupees, 3 Bombs, and 50 Rupees.

Thanks for watching!
