This is video #14 in my playthrough of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for the SNES. Link has just cleared the second dungeon the Dark World and acquired the useful Hookshot. This will allow him to reach new places.

Along the river northeast of the Golden Pyramid, there are some notches where Link can jump into the water (time 1:13). With the Hookshot, he can grapple to some unseen skulls on the western bank! He can now explore the northern part of the Dark World. The tree nearby has some interesting information about Ganon's motives.

In the area corresponding to the Light World's Graveyard, Link can reach a partially blocked off section to the northeast (time 2:23). Returning to the Light World, Link can now reach a grave that he could not before. Dashing into it opens it. Down below, Link can open a chest for a neat novelty item, the Magic Cape. It makes him invisible and invulnerable.

That's not all there is here, either. After returning to the Dark World, Link can go around the back and go up a ladder to a small flat area (time 3:14). There appears to be nothing here, but if Link returns to the Light World, he will be at a previously inaccessible cave entrance. Through the bombable wall to the north is Heart Piece #17.

After returning to the Dark World, Link journeys west. In the area corresponding to Sanctuary in the Light World, there is a cave with another weirdo who will tell a story for 20 Rupees (time 4:08). His story will become relevant later.

To the west and north, in the area corresponding to the entrance to the Death Mountain cave in the Light World, there is a sign that offers a Piece of Heart as a prize (time 5:21). The Magic Cape is required. Upstairs, Link must grapple across with the Hookshot. Then, to get past the bumper, he must go invisible with the Magic Cape. Finally, outside, he can grab Heart Piece #18.

Another basic shop can be found in the area corresponding to the Lumberjacks' Hut.

Instead of Kakariko Village, the Dark World has the Village of Outcasts (time 8:14). Definitely not a nice place. In this village, he finds the Treasure Chest Game (time 8:40). For 30 Rupees, Link can open two chests. After playing a little bit, Link finds the grand prize, Heart Piece #19 (time 11:52).

The southern house has a chest with 300 Rupees (time 12:24). The southeast tree has some useful information about the gargoyle statue. One of the eastern houses has a chest with more Rupees, but I did not take it since my wallet is full presently.

After returning to the Light World with the Mirror, Link gets some Medicine of Magic (time 14:40) and then flies to Death Mountain (time 15:19). At the teleporter, he goes to the Dark World and then drops down to a cave entry south of the teleporter (time 16:52).

After knocking down the strange posts, Link will have to cross some damage floors. Using the Magic Cape will avoid damage, but it also sucks magic, which is why I brought along some Medicine of Magic. The chest at the end contains the Cane of Byrna. This item will give Link invincibility as well.

Afterwards, he returns to the Light World and flies back to Kakariko Village (time 18:58). Then, he makes his way around to a teleporter tile between the village and the Lost Woods.

Thanks for watching!
